The Church and Missions

Bible Reading:  Matthew 28

Key Verse: Verse 19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

Key Words: Go ye therefore

We are commanded to “go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

Robert Hall Glover once said, “The church was not designed to be a reservoir, ever receiving and returning for itself God’s spiritual blessings; but rather a conduit conveying them on and out to others everywhere.  Its true mission was and must ever continue to be the same as the Lord’s, to seek and to save the lost, wherever they are to be found, whether at home or in a distant land.”

Someone once said, “When the unjust steward of Luke 16:4-8 came up with a plan to collect the delinquent bills owed to his master, he was commended by his lord.  The Lord then added this statement of insight to the commendation, for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.  The simple interpretation is that the world does a better job of taking care of their business than we as Christians do.”

McDonald’s has not been around as long as the gospel of Jesus Christ, but McDonald’s can be found all over the world.  We at Mountain View take it personally as our business to take the gospel around the world.  It is a shame that most of the world will know the taste of a Big Mac before they ever hear about the Savior.

Are you aware of the fact that it was a Jew who took the gospel to Rome, a Roman who took it to France, a Frenchman who took it to Scandinavia, a Scotsman who evangelized Ireland, and an Irishman in turn made the missionary conquest of Scotland?  No people have ever received the gospel except at the hands of an alien.

Always remember, the church’s mission is missions!!

What to do:

Go!

Pray!

Give!
