The Truth About The Truth

Bible Reading: Acts 12:1-15

Key Verse: Verse 15 – “And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.”

Key Words: Thou art mad

Some things which are true are, well, just hard to believe.  The truth is that some truth just seems untruthful.  Take Peter and the church at Jerusalem, for example, when Rhoda told them Peter was at the door.  They thought she was being untruthful and declared her, not to be a liar but, mad (“crazy”).  Yes, the truth about the truth is that some truth appears to be untruthful.  Take the following for example.

A woman's red station wagon was crushed by an elephant at a circus.  The owners of the animal apologized, explaining that the animal, for some reason, simply liked to sit on red cars. In spite of the damage, the woman's car was still drivable. But on the way to the garage she was stopped short by an accident involving two other cars just ahead of her.  When the ambulance arrived a few minutes later the attendants took one look at her car, then ran over to assist her.

"Oh, I wasn't involved in this accident," she explained. "An elephant sat on my car."  The ambulance attendants quickly bundled her off to the hospital for possible shock and head injuries, despite the lady's vehement protests.

The truth is that this world has declared us to be “mad,” simply because they fail to believe the truth about the truth:  Jesus Christ!

What to do:

The truth is still the truth, no matter who believes or who doesn't.
