The Truth Can Hurt

Bible Reading:  Acts 7:51-60

Key Verse: Verse 51 – “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”

Key Words: Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised

Someone has said nothing hurts quite like the truth.  This truth is clearly illustrated in Acts 7 with Stephen and the Jews.

The fact that the truth can hurt is clearly illustrated in the following true story.

An engaged daughter requested the privilege of wearing her mother's wedding gown for her wedding.  The mother obviously consented.  When the new bride tried on the dress, it fit her petite figure beautifully.  She walked into the room looking like a dream.  Tears began streaming down the mother's face.  The daughter put her arm around her mother and said, “Don't cry, Mom.  You're not losing a daughter, you're gaining a son.”  With a sob, the mother replied, “Forget that.  I was remembering how I used to fit into that dress!”

So the next time the truth hurts you, you can do one of three things:

  1. ignore it,
  2. become angry, or
  3. act on it.

I recommend #3.  Have a good day!

What to do:

He who doesn't learn from the truth will have to be hurt over and over again.
