Careless Conclusion

Bible Reading: I Samuel 1:1-16

Key Verse: Verse 14 - “And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.”

Key Words: And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken?

Eli came to a conclusion based upon what he thought, not what was factual.  In the end, he had to be somewhat embarrassed.

A young American at a banquet found himself seated next to a Chinese diplomat.  Not knowing what to say to a Chinese person, the young man pointed to the first course and asked, “Likee soupee?” The diplomat nodded and smiled.

Later, the Chinese diplomat, Wellington Koo, was called on to speak and delivered an eloquent address in flawless English.  As he sat down to the sound of applause, he turned to the young American and said, “Likee speechee?”  Oops!  Be careful what you assume.  You may reach a careless conclusion.
