Spiritual Gifts - Teaching

Bible Reading:  Romans 12:7 – I Timothy 4:1-15

Key Verse: I Timothy 4:11 – “These things command and teach”

Key Words: and teach

I believe Timothy had the gift of teaching.  You see that in our text verse in I Timothy.  You see it again in I Timothy 6:2.

Teaching means to turn the light on, not just in the mind but in the heart.

While we should all desire to teach others, the spiritual gift from the Holy Spirit stands out.  Just as you can tell those who sing well from those who have the gift of singing, the same principle applies to the gift of teaching.  Some teach while others you sit in awe of – that’s the gift of teaching.

William A. Ward has said, "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

An item in "The Report Card" told of a study done in Colorado in which 3000 high school seniors were asked about their best teachers. From their responses this composite was drawn. The ideal teacher (1) is genuinely concerned and interested in students as individuals; (2) requires students to work; (3) is impartial in dealing with students; and (4) is obviously enthusiastic about teaching.

Praise the Lord for all who teach the Word of God!!

What to do:

For those who have the gift of teaching: teach on!
