Why Creation

Bible Reading:  Revelation 4

Key Verse: Verse 11 - “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Key Words: for thy pleasure they are and were created

Let me ask you: do you live for your pleasure or do you realize you are here for God's pleasure?

The real joy of life is when we finally settle in on the fact that we, and all other people and things, are here for God's pleasure.  This reminds of the story of the oak, pine, sycamore, and the daisy.

One day the king was walking through his garden when he came upon a huge oak tree that was pouting. "Why are you pouting, Mr. Oak?" inquired the king.  "Because I'm not as tall as Mr. Pine Tree," he said.  The king shook his head and continued walking, finally coming upon Mr. Pine Tree, which was crying.  "Now, why are you crying?" asked the king.  "Because," said Mr. Pine Tree, "I'm not as beautiful as Mr. Sycamore."  The king again shook his head and continued walking.  He soon came upon Mr. Sycamore who was whining.  "Now, why are you whining?"questioned the king.  "Because I'm not as strong as Mr. Oak," said Mr. Sycamore.  The king kept walking finally coming upon Mr. Daisy who was smiling and happy.  "Well, why are you so happy, Mr. Daisy?" asked the king.  "Because I'm right here where you planted me and doing what you asked me to do," said Mr. Daisy.

Now, the moral of the story is this: true happiness only comes when we are making the King happy!!

So, I ask you again: Who are you living for?  Your pleasure or the Creator's (God's)?

What to do:

Remember true happiness comes from bringing pleasure to the Creator (God).

A New Creation

Bible Reading:  II Corinthians 5:10-21

Key Verse: Verse 17 - “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Key Words: he is a new creature

The word creation means creation.  When we are born again, we become a new creation through Christ Jesus.  Let me explain it this way.

Butterflies are caterpillars that have been transformed.  Caterpillars are ugly, slimy, and slow.  I don't find much redeeming value in caterpillars.  Most of the time, I find myself stepping on them.  But once the caterpillar converts to a butterfly, all of a sudden, something new is born.  Something old and ugly, something that was rejected, something that deserved to be stepped on, now begins to change.  The process of change is a little uncomfortable and a little inconvenient.  For a while, it looks like things are getting worse rather than better.  That's because something is changing on the inside.  After the cocooning process is over, the shell flips open, all of a sudden the thing that used to be grounded can now fly.  The thing that used to be a parasite now pollinates.  Something beautiful has come out of something that was ugly.  The seed was already there for it, but it just had to wait for development.

Now, a butterfly is not a fixed up caterpillar.  A butterfly is a totally new creature that was birthed out of a caterpillar.  But it's not a caterpillar.  It is a brand new being.  So it is with salvation.  You are a new "creature."

                                                                                                            Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

Make sure you are a new creature.

The Creator

Bible Reading:  Ecclesiastes 12

Key Verse: Verse  1 - “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;”

Key Words: Remember now thy Creator

It is difficult to constantly think about the Creator, unless of course you are out on a cloudless night looking up into heaven.

A pastor I know tells of the following.

"During one of our vacations with our family and our extended family, we rented a houseboat up at Lake Shasta.  And while we were there, a couple of nights we decided we would sleep on top of the houseboat.  So we dragged our sleeping bags up there.  I mean, it fits me, but a classy lady like my wife, it just didn't seem to fit.  So I reassured her we wouldn't roll off.  And this was one place I could snore and not disturb anybody else.  When we put our heads back on the pillow and we looked up and all the lights were off, of course, and the whole place was quiet, the stars by the thousands surrounded us.  I mean, it was like you could reach out and touch the Milky Way.  It was there and it has been there all the time, those same bodies that Abram looked at in the middle of the night.  God loves visual aids.”

It is recorded that Napoleon, the French military genius, was aboard ship in the Mediterranean one clear starry night. He was on deck and was walking past a small group of sailors apparently mocking the idea of a supreme being. One sailor remarked, “God of creation, what a joke.” Napoleon stopped, stared at them, and sweeping his hands across the stars of the sky he said, “Gentlemen, you must get rid of those first!”

Amen!

An Old Axiom

Bible Reading:  Hebrews 1:1-11

Key Verse: Verse 10 - “And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:”

Key Words: Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth

Think about this.

There’s an old axiom: “Wherever there is a thing, there must have been a preceding thought. And where there is a thought, there must have been a thinker.”

Take a mental walk with me outside. I want us to look at some cars together. If possible, let’s find a new one. While you’re standing there admiring the beauty of that sparkling new automobile, imagine I whisper to you, “You know, some folks believe this car is a result of someone’s design, but I know differently. Let me tell you what really happened.

Many, many centuries ago, all this iron, glass, rubber, plastic, fabric, leather, and wires came up out of the ground. Furthermore, each substance fashioned itself into various shapes and sizes, and holes evolved at just the right places, and the upholstery began to weave itself together. After awhile threads appeared on bolts and nuts and—amazing as it may seem—each bolt found nuts with matching threads. And gradually everything sort of screwed up tightly in place. A little later correctly shaped glass glued itself in the right place. And you see these tires? They became round over the years. And they found themselves the right-sized metal wheels. And they sort of popped on. They also filled themselves with air. And the thing began to roll down the street.

And one day, many, many years ago—centuries really—some people were walking along and they found this vehicle sitting under a tree. And one of them looked at it and thought, “How amazing, I think we should call it ‘automobile.’ But there’s more! These little automobiles have an amazing way of multiplying themselves year after year, even changing ever so slightly to meet the demands of the public. Actually, that process is called ‘automutation.’”

Evolution is not even "realistic."

Archeology and Creation

Bible Reading: Romans 3: 1-11

Key Verse: Verse 4 - “ God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Key Words: let God be true, but every man a liar

The Bible is often ridiculed and dismissed by some who say there is a lack of evidence for God's Word being correct.  But archeologists are constantly finding proof that God's Word is right on target...accurate all the time.

Archeologists have found the following Biblical accounts to be accurate.

  • The walls of Jericho ~ Joshua 6
  • Egypt as described by Moses ~ Exodus 1
  • The House of David ~ I Kings 22:10
  • Hezekiah's Aqueduct ~ II Chronicles 32:2-4
  • Defeat of Sennacherib ~ II Kings 19:35-36

These are but a sampling of truth found in God's Word and proven by archeological digs.

The point is that if we can believe the accounts mentioned above, we can believe God's account of creation as well.

Today, those who oppose the truth of God's Word pour out the lies, one of which is that man evolved into being.  I am reminded of the words of Blaise Pascal, "Unless we love the truth, we cannot know the truth."  "The fewer the voices on the side of truth, the louder the voices of lies."  ~ Channing

Today, let God be true and every man a liar.

                                                                                                Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

It boils down to who we believe: God or man?  Not much of a choice, huh?

Theistic Evolution

Bible Reading:  I Thessalonians 5:14-28

Key Verse: Verse 21 - “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

Key Words: Prove all things

Under the banner of “theistic evolution,” a growing number of Christians maintain that God used evolution as his method for creation. This, in my estimation, is the worst of all possibilities. It is one thing to believe in evolution; it is quite another to blame God for it.

First, the biblical account of creation specifically states that God created living creatures according to their own “kinds” (Genesis 1:24–25). As confirmed by science, the DNA for a fetus is not the DNA for a frog, and the DNA for a frog is not the DNA for a fish. Rather, the DNA of a fetus, frog, or fish is uniquely programmed for reproduction after its own kind. Thus, while Scripture and science allow for microevolution (transitions within “the kinds”), they do not allow for macroevolution (amoebas evolving into apes or apes evolving into astronauts).

Furthermore, evolution is the cruelest, most inefficient system for creation imaginable. Perhaps Nobel Prize–winning evolutionist Jacques Monod put it best: “The struggle for life and elimination of the weakest is a horrible process, against which our whole modern ethic revolts.” Indeed, says Monod, “I am surprised that a Christian would defend the idea that this is the process which God more or less set up in order to have evolution.”

Finally, theistic evolution is a contradiction in terms- like flaming snowflakes. God can no more direct an undirected process than he can create a square circle. Yet this is precisely what theistic evolution presupposes.

I close by reminding you of the words of Paul as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit, "And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from  every one of us."  Acts 17:26-27.

                                                                                                        Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

Maybe that should be a “what not to do.”  Don’t blame God for evolution; that’s man’s error.

My Help

Bible Reading:  Psalm 121

Key Verse: Verse 2 - “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Key Words: My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth

The psalmist reminds himself and us that if God can create the heaven and the earth, he can help us in our day of adversity.

The words found in verse 2 are some of the most encouraging words in the Bible.

I don't know where your help comes from but it sure can't beat the help that comes from the One Who created the heaven and the earth.

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed fervently for God to save him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “ God, how could you do this to me?” he cried. Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island.  It had come to rescue “him.” How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal, they replied.”

Now, let me ask: Where did the survivor's help come from?  If you said God, you are absolutely correct.  He is our very present help in a time of trouble!

Read it again and don't forget it.  Psalm 121:2, "My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

                                                                                                            Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

Let God be your help.  There is none better.

The Power Of Creation

Bible Reading:  John 1:1-14

Key Verse: Verse  3 - “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

Key Words: All things were made by him

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."  All things.  The Greek word panta refers to all things individually, all things separately.  It is a reference to the infinite detail of creation.  The scientist takes his or her telescope and focuses it on the reaches of space.  Out there are distances so vast that a special unit of measure is needed with which to express those concepts.  The astronomer's yardstick is a light year: the distance light travels in one year (at 186,273 miles per second - the equivalent of encircling the earth at the equator seven and a half times).  In round numbers, that is about six trillion miles.  Our sun, by that yardstick, is eight light minutes away.  But out there in space are suns and stars believed to be billions of light years away.  Nor can we count the stars or guess how many billions there are.

Some stars are large beyond all thought.  The star Antares, for instance, could hold sixty-four million suns the size of ours.  In the constellation Hercules is a star that could contain one hundred million stars the size of Antares.  Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is 100,000 light years in diameter.  It is revolving at a speed of two hundred miles an hour.  It takes two million years to complete one revolution on its axis, and there is much more.

Yes, Jesus made it all.  "Without him," says the Holy Spirit through the inspired apostle, "was not anything made that was made."  The form of the text in Greek is even more emphatic: "not even one thing."

Amen and amen!

The Glory Of The Lord

Bible Reading:  Psalm 104:24-35

Key Verse: Verse 31 - “The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.”

Key Words: The glory of the LORD shall endure forever

"The glory of the Lord shall endure forever.  The Lord shall rejoice in His works"; or, as some have rendered that last statement: "Let Jehovah rejoice in His works."  It is a bold statement.  The psalmist is so impressed with the astonishing wonders of creation that he actually calls upon God to rejoice in what He Himself had done!  He is carried away.  It is almost as though he is afraid God might be robbed of some of the glory which is His due.  The psalmist, soaring on the wings of his emotions, borne on the pinions of the vastness of nature, urges God to take delight in that which has awed and delighted him!  God's Sabbath rest has been broken; we live in a fallen world, the mark and taint of sin everywhere, but it is still a marvelous, wonderful world.

Years ago I had an accident and doctors told me I would never walk again.  Each morning I would crawl out of bed, open my window and listen to the birds sing.  I would think, "These birds have no place for shelter, no promise of food; they are hunted as prey."  I would gaze at the trees and flowers, the sun and the clouds, and realize that if God can create this...if He so chooses, He can have me walk again...and so He did.  There is indeed nothing impossible with God (Luke 1:37).

                                                                                                    Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

Sunset

Bible Reading:  Psalm 104:19-23

Key Verse: Verse  19 - “ He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

Key Words: the sun knoweth his going down

One cannot help but look at this portion of the psalm and think about what the psalmist saw: the moon, sun, and the beasts.

From the top of the hills and mountains his eyes gaze at the beauty of the sunrise (verse 22).

We know much more about the sun today than did the psalmist.  It is the source of light and life upon this planet.  Were it only a little hotter, it would scorch the globe and turn it into a vast desert.  Were it but a little colder, it would allow the arctic to march in triumph from the poles to the equator and turn the earth into a giant block of ice.  To maintain the earth at its proper mean temperature, the sun consumes 4,200,000 tons of its weight every second.  Yet this prodigious output of energy is so controlled and regulated that the thin margin of temperature necessary for life to exist is maintained from age to age.  No wonder primitive peoples worshiped the sun.

The psalmist does not make that mistake.  He worships the sun's mighty Maker, the One he describes as "the Lord my God."

So the psalmist's gaze takes in the sun, and his thoughts range far and wide as he thinks how much this earth owes to its parent star and how much, in consequence, it owes to the One Who brought it into being.  But still his wandering eyes rove across the works of God in creation.

I am reminded of Romans 1:25, "Who... worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator..."   Let each of us put God first, not the creatures.

                                                                                                Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

See God in all of creation and worship God, not the creature.

The Waters, Hills and Forest

Bible Reading:  Psalm 104: 10-18

Key Verse: Verse 14 – “He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;”

Key Words: He causeth the grass to grow

In verses 10-13 the psalmist looks at running waters.  The psalmist pauses long enough to consider both the source and course of the rivers, and in verses 16-17 he see forests.  But notice verses 14-17 the words, "He causeth the grass to grow."

A soldier writes, "I shall never forget the time when, as a young man in the British army, I was posted from Egypt to Palestine.  I boarded a train in Egypt late one night and watched as the train rolled away across the desolate sands.  When I awoke the next morning the train had crossed into Palestine.  Instead of flat endless deserts there were rolling hills, and instead of sand there was grass.  It was a beautiful scene."

All of God's creation is!!!  We do serve a wonderful God!!!

The Heaven And The Sea

Bible Reading: Psalm 104:1-9

Key Verse: Verse 2 - “Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:”

Key Words: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain

Psalm 104 is in a sweeping description of God's creation, not written by scientists or historians but by the psalmist who could look and see God in all of creation.  He speaks of the heavens in verses 1 - 4, and in verses 5 - 9 he speaks of the seas.

In the heavens, he sees the asteroid heaven in verse 2 "coverest thyself with light."  In verse 3, he sees the atmospheric heaven "who maketh the clouds his chariot," and then he sees the angelic heaven in verse 4.

He then moves on to the seas in verses 5 - 9.  He sees their boundary in verses 5 - 8, and in verse 9 he sees the rage of the seas and the control of God against their rage.

As one looks at the seas and the heavens and their majestic glory, how can one deny that there is a Creator?  The only answer I have comes from Scripture, Romans 1:20-21, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."  What a  shame!

                                                                                                            Dr. Mike Rouse

What to do:

The joy of life comes from seeing God in His creation.

He Created You And Me

Bible Reading:  Psalm 139: 13-24

Key Verse: Verse 13 - “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.”

Key Words: For Thou hast possessed my reins

"For Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.  I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  My substance was not hid from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought [the word suggests embroidery] in the lowest parts of the earth.  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in Thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."  David knew nothing of the modern science of embryology, nothing of the mysterious process by which a baby grows in the womb.  He had only the haziest of ideas about these things, but he knew enough to be awed at the process.

"If David knew enough to be awed, what about us?  We know that every living creature is made up of microscopic cells so small that the letter O on this page would contain between 30,000 to 40,000 of them.  Each microscopic cell is a world in itself, containing an estimated two hundred trillion tiny molecules of atoms.  Each cell, in other words, is a micro-universe of almost unbelievable complexity.  All these cells put together make up a living creature.

"Each cell has its own specialized function and each works to an intricate time table which tells it when to grow, when to divide, when to make hormones, when to die.  Every minute of every day, some three billion cells in the body die and the same number are created to take their place.  During any given moment in the life of any one of these cells, thousands of events are taking place, each one being precisely coordinated at the molecular level by countless triggers.  The human body has more than a million million of them - a million in each square inch of skin, thirty billion in the brain, billions of red cells in the veins.

"Obviously, such a complicated and unerring development of cells cannot possibly be the result of chance. 'He created me!' David exclaimed."    ~ John Phillips

A Fixed Center

Bible Reading:  Psalm 128

Key Verse: Verse 1 - “Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.”

Key Words: Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD

Barbara Hutton whose death on May 21, 1979, made the obituary column of Time magazine, died at the age of 66, a celebrity. She was the granddaughter of F. W. Woolworth, and at the age of twelve she inherited $25 million, a fabulous fortune in those days. But her money did not make her happy, nor did her marriages. She married seven husbands, among them a Laotian prince, a Lithuanian prince, a Russian prince, a Prussian count, and a Hollywood film star. She was plagued with sickness. Her illnesses ranged from kidney disease to cataracts. She died of a heart attack. The last years of her life found her a recluse, often bedridden, weighing only eighty pounds. The newspapers used to call her a “poor little rich girl.” Happiness is not to be found in marriage or in money.

Something else is needed: True happiness cannot be divorced from God. Peace, harmony, and order have their center in God.

In the world of nature, God, the Author of creation, shows us the importance of order and a proper center.  If we take our telescopes and explore the world of the infinitely large, everywhere we find order.  We find that we belong to a solar system which revolves around the sun.  The solar system is populated by a single star, the sun, and by nine planets, thirty-two moons, some 100,000 asteroids, and about 100 billion comets.  The word planet comes from the Greek word planetai, which means "wanderers," so called by the Greeks because the planets seemed to drift among the fixed stars.  The Greeks were wrong.  The planets do not wander; they obey fixed laws.  On the outer fringes of the solar system is the planet we once knew as Pluto, which orbits around the sun on an eccentric path which takes it to within 2.7 billion miles of the sun to as far away as 4.6 billion miles.  Roaming the icy fringes of the system are the comets.  The sun, however, has the power to exert its gravitational sway far, far beyond the comets, to a distance of some thousand times beyond the distance of the planet we once knew as Pluto.  The solar system exists solely because it has a center.  Without that center it would disappear.  But the sun itself is not the center of everything.  It, too, has a center.

When all is said and done, the fact remains that God is the ultimate center of everything.  He must also be the center of our lives.  There can be no happiness for those who forget this.

                                                                                                        Dr. Mike Rouse

Science

Bible Reading:  I Timothy 6:12-21

Key Verse: Verse 20 - “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

Key Words: science falsely so called

The word science in the Greek means knowledge.  Paul warns Timothy that there is a false science (knowledge).  In today's world we call that evolution, which is not a science but a false teaching, a false doctrine.

Note what some of the great scholars of the past have said in regard to creation.
Ultimately the Darwinian theory of evolution is no more nor less than the great cosmogenic myth of the twentieth century. -Michael Denton, molecular biologist and medical doctor.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that evolutionism is not even a good scientific theory. -Dr. Willem J. Ouweneel, Research Associate in Developmental Genetics, Ultrech, Netherlands.

What I have learned in the past ten years of review of recent scientific knowledge of cellular morphology and physiology, the code of life (DNA), and the lack of supporting evidence for evolution in the light of recent scientific evidence is a shocking rebuttal to the theory of evolution. -Dr. Isaac Manly of Harvard Medical School.

The human fossil record is strongly supportive of the concept of Special Creation. On the other hand, the fossil evidence is so contrary to human evolution as to effectively falsify the idea that humans evolved. -Professor Marvin L. Lubenow, in his book Bones of Contention.

For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries. -Robert Jastrow, Ph.D. Chief of the Theoretical Division of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (1958-61) and Founder/Director of NASA's Goddard Institute; Professor of Geophysics at Columbia University; Professor of Space Studies-Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College, in his book God and the Astronomers..

Can all of life be fit into Darwin's theory of evolution?. . .  If you search the scientific literature on evolution, and if you focus your search on the question of how molecular machines - the basis of life-developed, you find an eerie and complete silence.  The complexity of life's foundation has paralyzed science's attempt to account for it. . . I do not think [Darwin's mechanism] explains molecular life. -Michael Behe, Associate Professor of Biochemistry at Lehigh University.

Some food for thought!!

What to do:
We certainly need not believe evolution.  We don’t even need the support of scientists.  All we need is God’s Word to believe in God’s creation.

This is no Monkey Business

Bible Reading:  II Timothy 3:1-11

Key Verse: Verse  7 - “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Key Words: Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

In our secular schools and universities, evolution is not taught as a theory but a fact.  Today we have more people with college degrees than any other time in history, and yet never have we had a more spiritually ignorant society.  I came across the following which is humorous yet reveals much truth.

The monkeys one day had a big jamboree.
Their leader sat up in the tallest palm tree
And said with a chuckle, ‘My good fellow monks,
If you want a good laugh, just hear this junk.’

‘The teachers of men in a place they call ‘school’
Are training each youngster to grow up a fool.
The kids all run wild and never get spanked.
If our babies did that, their tails would be yanked!

‘No well-mannered monkey dictates to his teacher,
Beats up on policeman or shoots at the preacher,
Poisons the baby or kills with a gun,
And then laughs and says, ‘We were just having fun.’

‘Monkeys, my friends, have respect for each other;
We hand out no sass to our fathers or mothers.
The picture I’ve painted you’ll agree is quite sad,
But listen, my brothers, I’m boiling mad.

‘For here’s what they’re taught---that miserable flunky,
That creature called man was at one time a monkey---
An ape just like us, and what’s more, if you please,
He claims that at one time he swung through the trees.

‘Fellow monkeys, I think this is going too far.
We don’t envy their home, their wealth or their car;
But when they will spread such a horrible rumor,
It’s time for all monkeys to lose their good humor.

‘So, come, you must help me prepare a big sign
Protesting that man’s no descendant of mine.
If evolution be true, then, boys, we are sunk,
For I’d rather be a father to a weasel or skunk!’

What to do:

Remember in God’s creation, everyone is under some authority.  Be submissive.

Fowls of the Air

Bible Reading:  Job 12:1-7, Genesis 2:18-25

Key Verse: Verse Job 12:7 & Gen 2:20 - “But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:” (vs 7) “And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.” (vs 20)

Key Words:  fowls of the air

The more we learn, the more we will be amazed at God's creation and realize that all that is was created by the Divine Creator. Take the hummingbird, for example.

The tiny hummingbird, weighing only about a tenth of an ounce, can perform complicated twists and turns and can fly backward and upside down.

The flexibility of its shoulder joints allows it to move its wings forward and backward in a horizontal figure eight, beating them as many as 75 times per second, a maneuver that enables the hummingbird to hover near a flower while it drinks the nectar from it.  But the hummingbird doesn't soar or glide as some birds can, and its legs are so weak that it can't hop.  It has to fly even to change positions on a twig.

On the other hand, the ostrich, at 300 pounds, the largest of birds, can't fly.  But its legs are so strong that it can sprint up to 40 mph, taking strides of 12 to 15 feet.

The peregrine falcon, or duck hawk, is about the size of a crow, but it is the fastest creature on earth.  It can dive after prey at more than 175 mph.

What to do:

Remember that the creation of God is wonderful and so are you!

The Big Bang

Bible Reading:  Colossians 1:1-17

Key Verse: Verse  15 - “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:”

Key Words:  the invisible God

Some evolutionists believe in what they call a "big bang theory," that the universe came about as a result of some huge atomic-like explosion.  No, I don't believe in a "big bang theory," but I do believe in a Biblical truth that will give evolutionists a big bang: it's called creation.

NASA's Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite provided scientists with a wealth of information.  On April 23, 1992, scientists reported on the satellite's $400 million mission to study the universe's origins.  After more than 300 million measurements by COBE, the research scientists noted how closely their new discovery of the universe's creation compared with the Biblical account.  Harvard astronomer Owen Gingerish said, "Both the contemporary account and the age-old biblical account assume a beginning, and its essential framework, of everything springing forth from that blinding flash, bears a striking resonance with those succinct words of Genesis 1:3, "And God said, Let there be light."  Frederic Burnham, science historian and Director of the Trinity Institute in New York City, said many scientists would, at this time more than any time in the last 100 years, consider the idea that God created the universe a respectable hypothesis.  This discovery also supports the theory that up to 90% of the universe is made up of cohesive, invisible, dark matter that scientists haven't yet been able to identify.  Again, the answer is in the Bible.  Colossians 1:15-17 tells us that Jesus is the image of the "invisible" God and that through Him all things  were created and "by him all things consist."

Have faith in God.
