Key Verse: Verse 10 - “ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Key Words: created in Christ Jesus unto good works
When God created man he made him into his image (Genesis 1:27). When we are created again: born again, we are created in Christ unto good works. I am convinced that we fail to realize our potential for Christ because we are created in Him.
Tony Evans writes: "Awhile ago, I was sitting in my living room watching TV when my set popped and then blinked off. I got up and fiddled around with it a bit, and it popped on and off a few more times before I realized that the set was really messed up and I was probably going to need a new TV. My TV is about fifteen years old and has served me well. I figured that I'd start thinking about this as an opportunity to get myself that 60-inch plasma flat screen, HD television. I figured that even if I was going to give away my old TV first, I'd want to get rid of it working a little better, so I called the repair guy who specializes in my kind of TV. He was a specialist for the brand of TV I owned.
“When he arrived, I explained to him that my TV kept popping on and off and that I couldn't keep a picture. He got to work. He unscrewed the paneling and pulled out the circuitry. As he looked at the wiring, he said, 'Oh, this is no big deal. You just have a little separation of the wire here. Let me put it back together again and you'll have a picture in no time.'
"I see my dream dying but I figured that I'd stick with my original plan of getting the TV fixed up and still give it away. I mentioned to the repair guy that I was thinking about getting rid of this TV and getting a plasma so I could get a sharper picture. He surprised me when he said, 'Well, you may want to wait. I fixed your circuitry problem but I'm not finished yet. I know this brand of TV backward and forward and most people don't know all that the set can do. Let me work on it a little bit and then tell me what you think.'
"He dismantled the thing, taking the screen off as well as the reflective mirror in the back. Then he sprayed this special spray on it that cleaned it up. He did some other things with the circuitry and then he put it back together again. Voila! I had an amazing picture. I virtually had a brand-new TV. I thought the TV was gone. I thought it was useless. But when I had the master come and touch it up a little bit, I didn't have to trade it in.
"Some of us want to trade in our lives and throw in the towel. I know that for some of us stuff in our lives always seems to be popping on and off. Before you do anything drastic, just let the Master work with your life just a little. He'll show you He can turn, tweak, wipe, fix, and give you a life that looks brand-new, though it may appear to be past its prime. You are a masterpiece created in Christ Jesus for good works. All you've got to do is walk in them."
