Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:1-17
Key Verse: Verse 2– “Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.”
Key Words: remember me in all things
Now, before someone challenges me
on the title of this devotion, I know that it is the Apostle Paul saying,
“remember me.” But if we read verse 1,
Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” The essence of it is that Paul is
saying, “If you remember me, you’ll remember Christ.” What a statement! I wonder how many of us can say that!!
But the context of the verse is
that if we follow and remember Christ, all things will be done decently and in
order – without confusion.
Remember one of the stories in
the magazine, Today in World, July
1993.
“Neil Marten, a member of the
British Parliament, was once giving a group of his constituents a guided tour
of the Houses of Parliament. During the
course of the visit, the group happened to meet Lord Hailsham, then Lord
Chancellor, wearing all the regalia of his office. Hailsham
recognized Marten among the group and cried, ‘Neil!’ Not daring to question or disobey ‘the
command,’ the entire band of visitors promptly fell to their knees.”
Now, the moral of the story is
this: If you don’t know who the Lord is, you’ll end up bowing to all the lords
of the world.
What to
do:
✞Remember
the Lord!
