Live for the Glory of God

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all for the glory of God" I Corinthians 10:31

William R. Moody, D.L. Moody's son, set down his pen for the last time. His biography about his father's life was vinally complete. He had begun this 499 pag biography of his father in the spring of 1894. In his foreward, William confessed, "The preparation of my father's biography has been undertaken as a sacred trust... father lived solely for the glory of God and for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the earnest prayer of his fmaily that in this record of career his life's purpose may be conserved."

Are you aware tgat your biography is being written? Every day another page ir two is recorded in the eternal records. It is an honest record of both the good and the bad. One day we will give an account for every page. Solomon urges us to think carefully about what is being recorded there. "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandmentsL for this the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).

What a challenge it is to live every moment for the glory of God! Our Saviour left us a great example of how to live. "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do those things that please him" (John 8:29). Can we say that we do only and always those things that please our heavenly Father? Mey it be our goal! May we aspire to live more and more of our lives for God's glory rather than our own! The cry of John the Baptist would be a noble prayer today: "He must increase, that I must decrease" (John 3:30).
