The Fruit of Our Labor

 Bible Reading: Galatians 6:1-9

Key Verse: Verse 9 - “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Key Words: we shall reap

I deeply believe God has given each of us a specific task to fulfill while on this earth.

Elijah’s task was to defeat the prophets of Baal and restore proper worship.

Nehemiah’s task was to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Paul’s task was to take the gospel to the Gentiles.

Have you ever considered or given thought to what your task may be?

April 9, 2023, marked the 158th anniversary of the ending of the Civil War.  On that historic day in 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox, Virginia.  Because of the four-year conflict 600,000 people died and 3.6 million slaves were freed.  Abraham Lincoln’s greatest contribution as our 16th President was his ability to end the war and keep our nation together.  Appomattox marked the end of the national calamity.  It also marked the end of President Lincoln.  He was murdered just five days later.  Although Lincoln is one of the most well-known figures in history, he only occupied center stage for six years, from his famous debates with Stephen Douglas in 1858 to his assassination in April of 1865.

The point being: we all have a specific task to accomplish.  We may or may not live long enough to see the fruit of our life’s work, but we should nonetheless not be weary in well-doing.

So go out today - and everyday - and do your best work for God’s glory.

What to do:

Always do your best and do it for God’s glory.
