Spiritual Gifts - Rulership

Bible Reading: Romans 12:8 – Nehemiah 2:11-20

Key Verse: Romans 12:8 – “Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”

Key Words: ruleth, with diligence

The word ruleth means to oversee, lead, be out front.

It’s easy to see those men such as Nehemiah, Moses, Peter, Joshua were all men with the gift of rulership.

It’s easy as a ruler to become lazy, for who oversees the over-seer?  That’s why the ruler is told to be diligent.

The ruler is someone who must have the quality and character of an ant “having no guide, overseer, or ruler provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest” (Proverbs 6:7-8).

One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.

Submit to pressure from peers and you move down to their level.

Speak up for your own beliefs and you invite them up to your level.

If you move with the crowd, you'll get no further than the crowd.

When 40 million people believe in a dumb idea, it's still a dumb idea.

Simply swimming with the tide leaves you nowhere.

So if you believe in something that's good, honest and bright- stand up for it.  Maybe your peers will get smart and drift your way.

 That’s rulership!!!

What to do:

He that “ruleth” – do it with diligence, and I might add, faithfulness.
